Our hearing is a complex sensory mechanism that we harness to do the precise work in the different areas of music and audio production. There are so many subjective opinions about the equipment and methodology we use, but we rarely take into account the fact that every single person hears things slightly differently, based on factors like age and frequency loss over time.
HEARS Perfection has been created by Brainworx and the HEARS team to provide you with a personalized solution for frequency compensation. Using the data from an integrated hearing test, the plugin will hone in on any areas in your ears’ natural frequency response where you could use a little help.
With a new codebase, HEARS Perfection has been rewritten from scratch, with a straightforward GUI and a more efficient and precise hearing test process. The plugin works with all major DAWs, allowing you to immediately compensate for any irregularities in your hearing profile.
Once you have created a recallable profile, you can tweak it by adjusting the scale or amount of correction taking place, and there is a mid-side mode too. This means that you can adjust the correction depending on whether you are working on large or small studio monitors or headphones.
Overall, HEARS Perfection is a useful tool, especially for experienced live sound engineers who have been exposed to high SPLs over the years. Can it give you a new set of ears?
