Arturia brings back its tiniest analog synth in the form of the MicroBrute UFO. Same sound with a funky alien visitation theme!

The diminutive member of the Brute family has been revived for 2025 in the form of the MicroBrute UFO. The same classic, compact analog unit, but with a space-like paint job. Having almost single-handedly rebooted the analog synth market with the MiniBrute, Arturia gave us that raw power in an even smaller package.

More Information

Sadly, Arturia allowed the MicroBrute to quietly fade into a distant memory some years ago, but for whatever reason, they have decided to resurrect this brilliant little synth, giving us a big analog sound in a tiny footprint along with the flexibility of some patch points.

The Arturia MicroBrute UFO

The MicroBrute is a single-oscillator monophonic synth with three waveforms and three filter types, married up to a free-running or syncable LFO, single ADSR envelope, a small but functional mod matrix that uses patch cables and a 64-step sequencer to boot!

The oscillator features blendable saw, square and triangle wave forms, plus a sub>fifth addition to beef up your tone. There’s an overtone control as well as the standard Brute oscillator ‘Ultrasaw’ and ‘Metalizer’ features, as well as a pulse width control.

Classic Multimode Steiner-Parker Filter

The Steiner-Parker filter features high, band and low pass options and a Brute Factor control to really get gnarly with. The tiny mod matrix remains, with the ability to spit CV out as well as receive it and have it sent to a modest number of destinations.

On the rear, there is more CV/Gate connectivity as well as audio out and audio in for processing external sounds through the filter. There’s 5-pin MIDI In and USB and also a finetune control should it be required. The new MicroBrute UFO also sports an all black keyboard which adds to the UFO theme that has amusing graphics dotted around the case.

It is brilliant to have this junior member of the Brute family back in production, although Arturia are billing this as limited edition. They make no mention of how limited, or whether it is just the paint job that is limited and that we might see more MiniBrute’s in a slightly more demure set of clothes. Let’s hope it is the latter.

Arturia’s MicroBrute UFO is available now for just €349 for a limited time.
