[27 May 2025] The application period for this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival contest has officially closed, and the response was more impressive than ever. The organizers received numerous submissions revealing musical diversity and a remarkably high artistic standard. This overwhelming response clearly demonstrates the level of interest in this unique opportunity to perform at a traditional, internationally renowned festival. All About the 2025 Montreux Jazz Festival with Thomann
The Decision
Each contest application reflects a high level of commitment, creativity, and passion. This made it extremely difficult for the selection committee to make preliminary selections in the first round. After an intensive review of the entries, ten finalists were selected to advance to the next phase, where they will face public voting. You can now actively help decide which acts will advance to the final round of jury voting, which starts immediately. Public voting runs until June 8, 2025 and will determine the course of the selection process.
The three acts with the most votes will advance to jury voting, where the grand prize – a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival – will be awarded. This process ensures transparency in the decision-making process and strengthens direct contact between the audience and the artists. For many bands, participating is a success in itself, encouraging them to continue making their mark on the international music scene.
Montreux Jazz Festival: Your Chance to Play with the Greats
[12 May 2025] The Montreux Jazz Festival is not only a venue for legendary musical moments, but also a place where artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Prince have given unforgettable performances. Just like last year, Thomann is teaming up with Shure and the Montreux Jazz Festival to offer talented artists and bands the opportunity to perform live on this historic stage. The winner of this competition will not only receive a performance slot on July 14, 2025 at 9:30 p.m., but also high-quality equipment from Shure and a trip to the Festival, including accommodation, which will take place from July 4 to 19, 2025.
The application phase will run from May 12 to May 25, 2025, followed by a community vote from May 26 to June 8 to select the top 10 acts. A panel of judges will then select the top three acts from June 9-22. The winner will be announced on June 23, 2025 on the Thomann blog and on the Thomann social media sites and can look forward to an unforgettable live performance on July 14, 2025 at 9:30 pm at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Competition Schedule and Prizes for Your Performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival
- May 12 to May 25: registration phase
- May 26 to June 8: Community voting: Top 10
- June 9th to 22nd: Jury voting: Top 3
- June 23: Winner announcement
- July 14: Festival performance by winning act
In addition to the festival performance, the grand prize includes a fee of €3,000, full coverage of travel and hotel expenses, and Shure equipment valued at €7,000. The second and third runners-up will each receive €5,000 worth of Shure equipment. By the way: The equipment will not be selected by Thomann.de; the winners will be able to choose the Shure equipment that best suits their needs. Sounds very exciting!
