So it seems bento just keeps getting better, delivering truly useful features and making it even better value for money.
[October 15th, 2025] 1010music’s superb bento unit has just received a beta firmware update that adds the entire Fireball wavetable synth to its already extensive feature set.
Great Balls of Fire!
In celebration of 1010 Day last week, 1010 music snuck out a new beta firmware for their bento production tool that added the Fireball wavetable synth to its sonic arsenal. You may remember that Fireball is one of 1010’s Nano units.
This new version contains everything except the X/Y control of the original via its touchscreen and by all accounts, bento users are finding this a really neat addition to their fledgling production tool. It features eight voice polyphony two wavetables and an oscillator.
You can create your own wavetable tracks and load custom wavetables, too. It also supports mono wavetables using the format of 2048 samples per cycle. Files can include between 1 and 256 cycles. Bento owners can download the new beta firmware from the 1010music forums.
1010music bento – Exciting New Desktop Production Tool
[May 7th, 2025] 1010music continues to innovate and deliver super-useful products with the launch of bento, an all-in-one music creation device!
Not content with the diminutive blackbox that punched way above its weight in the sample-based desktop groovebox stakes, 1010music has expanded on that concept with the launch of bento. But what is bento, and why might it be the greatest all-in-one music-making device ever?
1010music bento
Bento is a super stylish unit that packs into its slender frame a 7″ touch-screen, 16 pads, 8 endless encoders and 24bit sampling. It features 8 tracks of sequencing, storage for multiple sample banks and support for loops and multi-sampling.

There’s also granular and slicing capabilities plus an extensive FX section. 1010music are really going for a feature set that could easily see many people ditching their laptops altogether. You can also hook up external MIDI and audio devices so it can truly be the heart of your studio setup.

Touchscreen and Connectivity
The 7″ touchscreen allows you to visualise the step sequencing as well as a detailed piano roll. There’s plenty of internal modulation options with LFOs and envelopes. All of these features add up to a device that is equally at home on stage as it is in the studio.

As for connectivity, there are three pairs of stereo ins and/or outs as well as 2x USB-C ports and MIDI via 3.5mm TRS. It can also be battery-powered with a claimed battery life of 3 hours. All in all, this looks to be another superb device from those clever people at 1010music!

More Information
This unit takes what the blackbox started and expands on it further, improving all the little foibles we had with it, such as no battery power and a limited touchscreen. 1010music always seems to pack so much power into their instruments, and this is no exception.
If you want to get hands-on with this brilliant creation, visit 1010music at Booth W350 at Superbooth between the 8th and 10th of May.
The 1010music bento will retail for €1,049 and is available to order now!

direct Digitakt competitor?
Yaasss! This is great news. I know people don’t want to buy gear to be beta testers, but the Bento is such a great device that keeps getting better. I really hope this is a success for them, because I love this thing, and adding the fireball synth is just the cherry on top.
