It’s a crazy time in the world of plugins. It’s being overrun by vibe-coded masses; prices are dropping, but quality and support often go with them. So, many (including me) are turning to the tried-and-true companies. And if these happen to have plugins on sale, like Zynaptiq Pitchmap, UVI Falcon and the legendary software synthesizers from AIR Music Technology, then you’ve got to check them out!
This week in software deals:
Zynaptiq Pitchmap: 51% off at Plugin Boutique!
There are two kinds of producers: those who are utterly confused by Zynaptiq’s plugins and those who swear by them. As someone from the latter camp, I can tell you that if you’re looking for a unique effect, one that turns any drum loop into a cascade of blistering harmonics, Zynaptiq Pitchmap is where it’s at.
Plus, few plugins can claim to have pretty much founded their own sound category. If you’ve ever heard of color bass, that oddly massive but still weirdly polyphonic-sounding bass from neuro and dubstep tracks: it all started with Pitchmap. Producers ran their massive neuro basses through it and created bass sounds no one had ever heard of.
In essence, Pitchmap is a real-time polyphonic pitch correction effect, not unlike Zplane’s Retune. It analyses incoming audio and retunes the pitches and harmonics to a set scales. The fun part, as often in music production, happens when you abuse it. When you use it on sounds, like a neuro bass, where there shouldn’t be much polyphonic material.
Zynaptiq Pitchmap is currently (until October 25, 2026!) 51% off at Plugin Boutique*.
UVI Falcon: 50% off at Thomann!
It used to be a big discussion point among many producers what the best alternative to Native Instruments’ flagship sampler Kontakt was. And UVI Falcon was usually one of the first ones people mentioned. But it seems a little like those days are over. Not because Kontakt or Falcon don’t matter anymore, but because each one has a different audience.
I’d argue that Falcon is (with HALion a close second) the most versatile multi-sampler on the market at the moment. The number of features, the many different sampling and oscillator engines, the whole scripting side of it make the plugin insanely powerful. And, boy, do these presets sound polished.
Plus, this far, once you buy Falcon, the updates are free! And UVI has been expanding Falcon’s feature set at a very impressive pace for years. The only downside, compared to Kontakt, is the lack of a comparable ecosystem. You get Falcon, you get additional sounds and packs from UVI, but there isn’t really much else in terms of sample instruments from other companies. On the other hand, you get to design and build instruments you couldn’t even dream of in Kontakt land. Combine it with Zynaptiq Pitchmap, and you get sounds for days.
UVI Falcon is 50% off (until October 25, 2026!) at Thomann*!
AIR Music Technology Air Essential Synths Pack is 65% off at Thomann!
AIR Music Technology has been around forever. What started as Wizoo Sound Design became part of Digidesign and Pro Tools in 2007. But luckily, the instruments from AIR remained as VST plugins. And don’t let the age of Loom II, Vacuum Pro, and The Riser, the three instruments in the bundle, fool you.
You might not get the latest 808 or synth stab from these, but all three plugins bring something to the table that many other soft synths lack: character. Just fire up Vacuum Pro and browse through some of its bass or lead presets. That is some nasty, organic-sounding distortion that is rare among plugins.
And given the rise of additive synths, you’d be surprised by the depth and sonic versatility of what Loom II has to offer. Up to 512 harmonic partials per patch, a morph pad, hundreds of epic presets: unique sounds galore! And with The Riser you get a synthesizer filled to the brim with patches for transitions in your tracks. And these go much deeper than your average Splice loop (which is fine on many occasions!).
Get the AIR Essential Synth Pack at 65% off from Thomann* (until January 12, 2027).
