The WesAudio ng78 draws from the classic dual-channel FET limiting amplifier design, adding digital recall and a range of modern features.
At first, digitally recallable hardware processors seemed like a gimmick. However, through the pioneering innovation of WesAudio, the technology has led the way for many other manufacturers to follow.

The ng78 joins the WesAudio Next Generation line of recallable rackmount signal processors, bringing this legendary limiting amplifier design into the modern recording era. With dual-mono and true stereo operation, the ng78 uses a fully analogue circuit design with 24 dB of headroom and Carnhill output transformers for character.
Besides the familiar controls you’ll know from the 1176, the ng78 offers an expanded range of attack times for precise transient shaping, and the Dynamic Link Technology automatically makes adjustments for any component tolerances in the sidechain signal path. This ensures that the balance between the two channels is maintained throughout parameter operation and recall.
In addition, there are different THD saturation modes and two sets of sidechain filter settings. This includes three sidechain high-pass filter settings (60, 90, and 150 Hz) for preserving the low-end and three sidechain high-shelf filter settings (2, 5, and 10 kHz) for taming harsh frequencies.
The ng78 connects its plugin interface via RJ45 Ethernet or USB, so you have options to suit your particular studio configuration. Overall, the ng78 is a considerable expansion on the original 1178 design, making it a versatile workhorse for the modern mixing engineer.
