Duchess MKII

Building on a decade of development, the Duchess MKII models introduce a 3-way voice switch, a 3-way mid kick boost, and an improved reverb system. These enhancements aim to give players more control over their sound, whether they’re chasing classic American-style cleans or a more focused British-voiced grit.

V40 The Duchess Compact Head MKII

The heart of the new series is the V40 The Duchess Compact Head MKII. This portable, 42-watt (switchable to 7W) head is powered by a pair of EL34 valves, known for their high-headroom and dynamic response.

2025 Updates

Its standout features include a new 3-way voice switch that allows players to fine-tune their tone with more low-mids, making it easier to match the amp to different guitars, pickups, and musical genres. The new digital reverb system offers two options: a classic spring tone and a modern, ambient voice that ranges from subtle to immersive.

Finally, the 3-way mid kick boost switch provides options for increased lower mids, more gain on the upper mids, or a flat response, perfect for helping lead lines cut through a mix.

More Than Just a Compact Head

The Duchess MKII series isn’t limited to a single model. Victory has also rolled out the V40 The Duchess Deluxe Head MKII and the matching Deluxe Combo MKII, which feature a duet of 6L6 valves and a valve-powered tremolo and spring reverb.

For players on the move, the V40 The Duchess Lunchbox Head MKII offers the same upgraded features in an even smaller, more portable enclosure. The series is topped off by the V140 The Super Duchess Head MKII (see the original here from 2019), a powerhouse with 96 watts (switchable to 30W) and four 6L6 valves, designed for players who need maximum headroom.

’ve been waiting for this update for years. I don’t have the dough at the moment, though.
Still, I’m glad they finally added bias adjustment points to the Duchess.

That said, I don’t see the V4 in the new Mark 2 lineup. Maybe it’ll be released later this year. It would be interesting to see a Duchess preamp without the power amp section—just a preamp in pedal format, like they used to have with the V4.

    I’m optimistic for now.
