The Yamaha Revstar range of guitars has now officially been launched worldwide – and it includes a lot of them! Of course I gave you all a heads up last week about these and so I was pleased to see such an awesome range of great-sounding guitars. The styling is based on classic UK and Japanese street racing bikes apparently, and there are some really nice finish options, touches to detail and custom pickup options, wiring/switches.

They have really gone to town on the finer details and have lots of beautiful touches. Also I love the new finish options and colours. These instruments seem designed to age gracefully, wearing in such a way that the guitar will really feel like yours with age and play wear.

With a total of seven different models to suit all budgets and pickup options, Yamaha have put a lot of work into this new range and it shows. I love the way they have added things like options for Bigsby trems, P90s, regular humbuckers and also their new ‘Dry Switch’ which makes their custom-wound humbucker sound like a single coil without using coil splitting to achieve the result.

These guitars look and sound really great! They remind me of how the Japanese made wearing quality denim jeans a thing by using selvedge denim and traditional stitching techniques, and how a good quality pair would mould to you and last a lifetime. This range of new guitars evokes that whole vibe of classic, hard-wearing and attention to detail.

So a large range of finishes and colours to suit all budgets and tastes. I for one look forward to trying these out as I know Yamaha can build a great instrument whether they make them in Japan, Indonesia or China. Their build quality has been proven time and time again with previous lines such as the ’90s Pacifica and the classic Yamaha SG2000s.

Rather than me regurgitate a load of specifications, I urge you to go check out the range from the link below. I’m pretty sure there is a guitar in there for just about every player!
