Magnetismus 2
The Magnetismus 2 is one of Tegeler’s most versatile processors, as it offers stereo VCA compression and transient shaping in one device. With Flux Mode switch allows you to select Iron, Cobalt, and Nickel modes that use different transformer circuitry configurations to emulate different tape characteristics, shaving transients in different ways.
With the Intensity control, you can adjust how much or how little transient shaping you want to take place, while the VCA compressor works independently. Although the Magnetismus is not built for dual-mono operation, the fact that you can dial out the compressor or transient shaper makes it a flexible and colourful tool for channel groups and your mix bus.
Créme and Créme RC
If you’re looking for the ultimate stereo processor, Créme combines two famous designs: the Pultec EQ and the SSL bus compressor, in a single rack unit. This gives you two specially designed passive shelving filters to boost the respective low and high frequency ranges with precise controls that allow you to easily replicate your settings.
The VCA compressor offers flexibility in two areas. Firstly, the sidechain low-cut filter can be placed at 60 or 120 Hz to avoid the compressor reacting to the low-end. Secondly, the position of the compressor and EQ can be swapped in the signal path so you can optimize the processing chain to suit your needs. Meanwhile, for more precise applications like mastering, the Créme RC version provides stepped pots and full digital control and recall with a plugin interface.
Vari Tube Recording Channel
The VTRC is a unique triode-based tube recording channel strip that combines a tube microphone preamp, a Pultec-style EQ, and two compressor circuits (optical and vari-tube) that can be used in conjunction. What’s more, the VTRC can be paired with another unit for stereo operation, making it perfect for overhead mics or bus processing.
Like the Créme, the signal path can be flipped, and the compressor has a sidechain circuit. However, the VTRC has a more elaborate EQ section with two boost bands and a cut band to carve out the midrange area. Overall, the VTRC is one of the most impressive devices available for home recording, as it shines on vocals and bass guitar.
Schwerkraftmaschine
The Schwerkraftmaschine gives you the best of both worlds: the dynamic range and balance of tube circuitry, and the precision and flexibility of digital control from a plugin in your DAW.
