Synth Deals from Sequential: Prophet 6 Desktop is 8 percent off!

Let’s start this week’s synth deals with a special one from Sequential. Because few polyphonic synths are as legendary as the Prophet series from the late Dave Smith. However, not everyone has the space for a full-blown studio at home. That’s why desktop versions of big synths have been such a hit in recent years.

An even better deal from Alesis than the synth deal from Sequential

While it’s certainly no match for the giant groove boxes from Elektron or Akai, the Alesis SR18 Drum Computer still holds its own. The little drum machine has 100 preset patterns and 100 user-preset slots to create grooves. In addition, the SR18 has 32 megabytes of internal memory, so you can load your own samples—a nice addition to the synth deals from Sequential and ASM!

“the SR18 has 32 megabytes of internal memory, so you can load your own samples”

…having admittedly looked very briefly at both their website and manual TOC etc, I don’t believe this is correct? (i.e. it seems we’re talking about 32MB ROM, not about flash storage for user samples)

Yes, I have an ancient SR18, and though it has a lot of onboard sounds, no sample RAM. It does do a passable ‘live drummer’ for jams though. You know what real drummers are like, always busy in the pub or the brothel 😎

Make your own reply 😎. Still got an Alesis 1997 512 instrument module that’s tiny, still works and uses a pedal type power supply. Changed the battery, factory restored it a couple of years ago, still going. Wondering if Alesis will ‘Behringer’ the Quadrasynth, that was very popular, and might be once again, with a bit better build quality?
