More Information

Spectrum Thief by Ghost Note Audio does just what it says: it “steals” the frequency response of one track and automatically generates an EQ curve to tone-match a second track. While it appears to be primarily designed for guitars, the developer states that it also works on full mixes, allowing you to match your mix to a reference track. You can apply the desired amount of smoothing and roll off the lows and/or highs to exclude them from the tone-matching process. Thanks to a handy spectrum display with a live mode, there’s plenty of visual feedback.

But Spectrum Thief can do more: you can also export the captured frequency response as an IR, making it a great tool for capturing your speaker cabinets. The IR length and sample rate are both adjustable.

Spectrum Thief is available for macOS and Windows in VST and AU formats.

Filter is available for free for macOS and Windows in VST, AU, and AAX formats. The full version of BEAM 2.0 is available from Plugin Boutique* for $99.
