Indie rock gods Sonic Youth are having a clear-out sale with a catalogue of instruments that spans the band’s career. Guitars, amps and effect pedals galore!
Sonic Youth
This American alternative group are known for their use of alternate tunings, extreme effects and even heavy guitar modification, which all contributed to their unique sound and an important part of what makes the band so cool. Lee Ranaldo, Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore‘s guitars and effects are up for sale to the highest bidder via Reverb. You’ll be able to get your hands on band-owned items from 30th October when the sale goes live.

Offsets and Effects
It looks as though there are over 200 items including Jazzmasters, Precision basses and effects. The pedal sale includes a silver Klon overdrive pedal, an Analogman King Of Tone and also a Moog Moogerfooger pedal, all pedals that are sought after anyway – even without the Sonic Youth association. These items could go for big bucks!

Daydream Nation
With such a huge haul of band-owned and used equipment up for sale, I think this sale will be very popular indeed. It all looks ‘well used’ and a lot of the items have been heavily personalised, with stickers, bits of tape and settings marked in pen. All that makes these items ideal for fans of the band.
If for some reason you have never got around to checking out Sonic Youth, I suggest you try classic albums like Daydream Nation and Goo. There are moments of pure unadulterated riffage that often evolve into soundscapes of feedback. Chances are the band may well have even been using some of this gear on these recordings.
