Today Sequential announced nothing short of the power of the new Rev 4 Prophet-5 and Prophet-10 squashed into a handy and portable desktop unit for space-conscious studios.

It’s something they do with nearly all their synthesizers and so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Why have another keyboard taking up all that space when you can fit these lovely looking desktop units into all sorts of places?

They are identical to the keyboard versions with all the same authentic analogue loveliness and wood finish. The layout gets rearranged slightly to reign in the width which in turn increases the depth. They are really nice looking bits of gear.

The sound is generated by 2 multi-waveform oscillators, analog resonant low pass filters and two envelopes per voice. Modulation is provided by a multi-waveshape LFO and Poly Mod that allows the filter envelope and oscillator B to be routed to a variety of destinations including filter cutoff frequency, oscillator A frequency, and oscillator A pulse width. You get the same choice of filter and the new Vintage knob to loosen up those oscillators.

On the back there are USB and MIDI connections plus CV and Gate.

That’s exciting! I love that Sequential offer desktop modules of their synths. The Prophet 5 module would fit perfectly on my desk. Now I just need to sell some of my other synths… 🙂
