The Old Blood Noise Endeavors BL-44 Variable Clock Reverse Effector is a special release this Black Friday. It plays things backwards with a low bit rate buffer playback adding grit and grime. The pedal launches on Black Friday and looks like it could be a lot of fun to use.

As ever Old Blood Noise Endeavors have been busy making the BL-44 Variable Clock Reverse Effector and this pedal is pretty interesting. OBNE describe it in their Instagram post as featuring “clock sliders, low bit rate buffer playback, things playing backward (it’s always better backward), grit, grime, and everything else bottled up in this little box of joy”

The BL-44 offers a reverse effect, as it writes what you’ve played to memory, then reads that memory from end to start and plays it back for you in reverse. Then you can add depth and harmony from the interaction of the Clock slider and Speed knob which makes it a very interactive somewhat oddball musical effect.

Clock Slider & Speed Control
The Clock Slider determines the thinking speed of the digital signal processor and sets everything related to time. It then influences the sample rate and adjusts the overall length of the reverse playback. As you adjust the slide, the pitch slides and resettles.
Next is the Speed knob control, which will cause the system to read through its memory in some unexpected ways. This can manifest in it catching bits multiple times or just missing pieces. Finally, the Mix control adjusts the wet/dry balance of the effect and Volume sets the overall level.
The pedal uses soft-touch bypass switching and requires an external 9V DC PSU (not included) to power it.
