Sire collaborated with Larry Carlton earlier this year and launched several new models at Winter NAMM. The three models that we covered looked fantastic, and now that they are finally available to order, should be on your radar.

Okay, I have to admit I am a little over-excited to see these three great looking guitars from Sire. The guitars seem to be very well spec’d, especially at these price points. You can read my article on the basic specifications on the models here. All three variants look extremely promising.

Basically, if Larry Carlton puts his name on any model of guitar, it’s worth paying attention. Especially if it’s around the £500 mark.

Larry Carlton H7

Larry Carlton is called Mr 335 by many, and so the new Larry Carlton H7 is definitely the one to check out. Designed by Sire in conjunction with Mr Carlton, the guitar looks very ’50s and ES-335 inspired. The instrument has a traditional double-cut laminate maple semi-hollowbody construction, and a mahogany neck with an ebony fretboard and 22 medium jumbo frets. All traditional stuff for this style of guitar. It comes with a pair of Alnico 2 humbuckers, and is available in Cherry Sunburst, Vintge Sunburst, or Red finishes.

The guitar sounds excellent in the demo video below, which was as expected. If you are looking for a semi-hollow, twin-humbucker guitar, this could be a great option. I’m very much hoping to review one of these in the not too distant future, as it looks very well put together.

Larry Carlton L7

The new Larry Carlton L7 is a singlecut design that comes in Tobacco BurstGoldtop, and Transparent Blue Burst finishes. It has a maple top with a flamed veneer, a mahogany body and neck, and an ebony fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. The guitar comes loaded with a pair of Alnico 5 humbuckers, with individual volume and tone controls, and a three-way pickup selector.

Larry Carlton S-Series

The new Larry Carlton S-Series is a bolt-on model and comes with an HSS pickup configuration. It’s priced even lower than the H7 and L7 models above! The guitar is available in 3-Tone Sunburst or Arctic White versions. Or, for a little extra, you can opt for a flamed maple veneer top in Trans Blue, Trans Black, or Natural finishes.

It has an alder body with a bolt-on roasted maple neck, and comes fitted with an S7 humbucker in the bridge and a pair of S7 single-coils. Hardware includes locking tuners and an S7 2-post tremolo, with steel block and stainless saddles. Again, quality choices at a very reasonable price point.
