It’s that time of year again. Even without a Winter NAMM Show, Charvel has been busy, which means we get four new signature models for 2022. Let’s take a look at the revamped and newly announced Sean Long, Satchel, Jake E Lee, and Henrik Danhage signature lineup for this year. Though, it’s possible we may have already seen some of these before, so how new are they?

Charvel signature models 2022

These four new Charvel signature models for 2022 include some revamped models with new finishes. All of them feature similar body styles, and are priced quite decently, given their specifications.

Sean Long Signature Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH HT M

With an official name that is a bit of a mouthful, this Charvel Sean Long Signature Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH HT M is all dressed in black, with a bright yellow bridge humbucker. The While She Sleeps founding guitarist Sean Long has opted for a pair of EMG pickups, with the 57 in the bridge position with that neon yellow cover, and a 66 in the neck.

Elsewhere, this signature model features an alder body finished in all black, a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement, Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots, and an easy access heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel. You get the usual super easy to play 12″-16″ compound radius maple fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and a Charvel HT6 string-through-body hardtail bridge.

RRP – USD 1199.99

Jake E Lee Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSS HT RW

The Jake E Lee Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSS HT RW is based on the one he has played since 1975. You get an an alder body, a bolt-on maple neck with a 12″-16″ compound radius fingerboard, 21 jumbo frets, and rolled edges, plus a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel.

This hard tail model features a Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio pickup combination. You get a Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 humbucker in the bridge position and a pair of slanted DiMarzio SDS41 DP111 single coils in the middle and neck positions. These are wired via a single Strat-style skirt volume knob, and a five-way pickup selector switch.

Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK22 HH FR M

Next up is this year’s Satchel signature model, which basically is a new finish for 2022. The Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK22 HH FR M looks like it will strike fear in the heart of any East-end London barmaid, and the tiger stripe is certainly fierce against that white backdrop.

This model follows on from his previous Satin Purple Bengal and Slime Green models, and has the same specifications. These include an alder Dinky-style body, though with sharper-radius top edges, and a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement, it also has the obligatory 12″-16″ compound radius 22-fret fingerboard with black dot inlays and a black top-loaded Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo bridge system.

Pickups are, as last year, a set of Fishman Fluence Classic humbuckers, controlled by a single volume knob with push-pull coil-splitting functionality and a three-way selector switch. Whatever you think of Satchel, you have to admit he is consistent.

Henrik Danhage Limited Edition Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HS FR M

Finally we have the somewhat battered looking Henrik Danhage Limited Edition Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HS FR M. This model has a seriously relic/aged/thrown-down-a set-of-concrete-stairs finish! But is it actually new? Or is it no longer a limited edition? Or is it a new limited run for 2022? I’m confused…

Anyway, this one features an ash body this time, with a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement rods, and the usual Charvel 12″-16″ relic’d maple fingerboard with rolled edges, 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays. Like Satchel’s signature, this one also has a top-mount Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo bridge system.

It comes factory fitted with a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 humbucker in the bridge position and a DiMarzio Area 67 DP419CR in the neck, controlled by a white Strat-style skirt volume knob with push/pull for pickup switching. I have a similar setup on one of my own guitars and it makes for a clean control layout., However, you do lose an in-between position, but hey, if you don’t need that sound, why have it!

Again, the official video below for this model is dated from 2 years ago, yet Charvel states on its site that this model is coming in April. Potentially a new release for 2022? I’m still not sure.

RRP – USD 1699.99

Charvel Signatures 2022

Some interesting signature models from the Fender owned Charvel brand this year. Nothing really stand-out amazing, but some well-thought-out designs nonetheless. A lot of these models have tried and tested combinations, so you really can’t go wrong, especially if you need a performance instrument for under USD 2000.
