ProCo Sound has announced the W.I.E.M.S. wireless in-ear monitoring system, which will be shown at NAMM 2020 later this month. The company claims that the W.I.E.M.S. is the most compact wireless in-ear solution on the market. What does it have to offer?

The ProCo Sound Wireless In Ear Monitoring System, or W.I.E.M.S., is a very compact system without flimsy external antennas. As such, it’s similar to the XVive U4, which was announced just a few weeks ago. According to ProCo Sound, the W.I.E.M.S. offers simple “plug-n-pair” configuration. It operates in the 5.8 GHz band, which ensures that it can coexist with WiFi and Bluetooth signals, ProCo Sound says. With four channels to choose from, four W.I.E.M.S. systems can be used simultaneously. ProCo Sound states a latency of 5.6 milliseconds and a range of 30 meters.

The sleek transmitter offers an XLR connector and plugs directly into a balanced output. It’s also compatible with the manufacturer’s Dante products, such as the new AoD solutions. The receiver clips onto your belt and pairs automatically with the transmitter. It has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a power button. The signal is transmitted digitally with a resolution of 48 kHz / 24 bit, which ensures optimum audio quality, according to ProCo Sound. Both the transmitter and receiver run on rechargeable lithium ion batteries. They can be recharged using the included micro USB cable and AC adapter. ProCo Sound claims that the battery life is 6-8 hours on a single charge.

Price and availability

As of now, we don’t know when the W.I.E.M.S. will become available and how much it will cost. If you’re at NAMM, you can check it out at the RHC booth 11610.
