Bought an Arturia MiniFreak 49? Max It Out with New Sounds! – Sounds and Presets
Did you just drop some cash on the Arturia MiniFreak 49? Here are some of my favourite sound banks to help you fill it up!
Arturia dropped the MiniFreak 49 yesterday, a new, larger version of their hit synth with more keys, a super cool XYZ touch control and an expanded interface for an all-round bigger experience. And because it is fully compatible with both the regular version and MiniFreak V, there are already some fantastic sound banks for it. Here are some of my favourites.
Max Out Your Freak!
Fragments Vol. 1 & 2 by GEOSynths
Jamie Morden is one of my favourite sound designers, so when he does a bank for one of my favourite synths, it’s a match made in heaven, and Fragments is no exception! Jamie has made great use of the myriad sound engines contained within MiniFreak. Every patch makes use of the mod wheel and macros, something that is a lot more capable on the new MiniFreak 49.
There’s something for most styles and genres contained in both volumes of Fragments, and of course, these banks are compatible with all versions of the MiniFreak, be it the original, the 49 or the MiniFreak V plugin. You can buy each bank individually for $19 or buy them as a bundle for $35!
300 Custom Sounds for MiniFreak by Jexus
When Jexus sets out to make a bank of sounds, he doesn’t do things by halves! This bank contains over 300 expertly crafted sounds for the MiniFreak, along with a ton of sequences, examples of which you can hear in the trailer video. His sounds range from delicate to destructive and cover many different genres and styles.
One odd thing about any Jexus library is that he doesn’t give his patches names. Now, to some, that might seem lazy and not at all helpful, seeing as most of us use patch names to determine what kind of sound we’re about to experience. But in some ways, it’s actually rather clever because it forces us to check each sound out.
Jexus makes sounds for some of the biggest names in the business, so you know that you’re going to get great quality and with over 300 sounds for less than 30 £/€/$, you get great value too. Take yourself and your new MiniFreak 49 on a long exploration with this bank. You’ll thank me later.
Dreamwaves Vol. 1, 2 & 3 by Vintage Soundset
Who doesn’t love a bit of synthwave, eh? Big, lush pads, thick basses, searing melodic lead lines, all designed to evoke fake memories of a version of the 80s that never happened! Ah, yes… I can be a bit cynical, but to be fair, I’m a big fan of the genre even if it isn’t truly rooted in the decade of my teenage years!
So if synthwave, and its many sub genres where people think up of a randon word and then tack “____wave” on the end, is your thing, and you have a version of the MiniFreak, then these three banks by Vintage Soundset will be ticking all of your boxes and lighting up your life in neon!
These three banks have been used by many well-known artists in these genres, so you will be able to wallow in their lushness and retro chic with sounds created and inspired by classic synths of the 80s such as the Junos, Jupiters, DX’s and Casios. Volume 3 even comes with free drum samples! Set your nostalgia guns to stunned and grab these banks from the Vintage Soundset website for just $27 each!
Next-Level Patches for MiniFreak by Ultimate Patches
This next bank is up there with Jexus in terms of value for money, probably more so as they have a sale on right now! Ultimate Patches have built a strong reputation in the 3rd party soundset market and their two MiniFreak banks cover a huge range of styles without being confined to any single genre or style.
There truly is something for everyone here from vintage organs to 70s prog leads, 80s pads and leads and way more. So whether you like Italo Disco, Hip Hop, R&B, Cinematic, Ambient, Soul or Jazz, there are some pretty cool sounds to be had here. If anything, it truly proves what a versatile synthesizer the Minifreaks are!
As with all of these banks, these sounds will work right across the newly expanded MiniFreak range and for the Fall of 2026, Ultimate Patches are offering both banks for the price of one! So grab Volumes 1 & 2 for just $29.99 or you can buy just one for $19.99, but why would you want to do that?
