[11 October 2025] The Mayer EMI VibesConnect update adds DAW-like support for the already ridiculously powerful MD850 Vibes synthesizer – and it’s finally coming out.

Back at Superbooth this past spring, we told you about a new update for the Mayer EMI MD850 Vibes. A powerful desktop digital synth, it’s got virtual analog and other engines inside. The update, which the company teased as Vibes in DAW Mode, adds DAW-like functionality to the machine, turning your web browser into a performance and editing suite.
Called VibesConnect, the update is finally becoming available. On October 15, owners of the synth will be able to download it from the company. And, going forward, all new MD850 Vibes synths will come with the functionality pre-loaded.

Mayer EMI Vibes in DAW Mode Turns Your Synth Into a Powerful DAW
[9 May 2025] The Mayer EMI Vibes was already ridiculously powerful. Now it’s a DAW too, thanks to the Vibes in DAW Mode update, which adds a browser-based DAW to the setup.

If you own a Mayer EMI Vibes, you know how special it is. Now the company has announced at Superbooth that a new update will add DAW-like control to the synth’s already powerful feature set. Called Vibes in DAW Mode, the update empowers the 24-voice digital synth with a fully integrated browser-based performing and editing UI.
Called Vibes Connect, it allows users to experience the fast creation of sounds, clips and performances. It gives owners of the Vibes direct access to the clip launcher and related 21 stereo mixer channels for live performing. There’s also a MIDI editor plus direct recording and editing.
“Vibes Connect, the web browser-based performing and editing app, makes the creation of live performable arrangements easier than ever before,” says Mayer EMI. “In combination with the existing Extended Virtual Analog (XVA) sound engine, the Vibes truly gives musicians unlimited potential for creative expression and the ability to perform live.”

[8 August 2024] The Mayer EMI Vibes is a powerful new virtual analogue synth that also provides wavetable synthesis capabilities with the same X-VA engine as the flagship MD900 in a package slightly downscaled in both size and price.
The Vibes MD850 is built on the new AIS (All Integrated Synthesis) platform, with 24-voice polyphony and full stereo operation. Furthermore, there is a flexible digital mixer, clip launcher, and an extensive drum synthesis engine.

With the filter section, the multimode filter allows you to emulate classic filter types and there is an extensive modulation routing matrix for adding animation to each part.
Moreover, each of the four parts is equipped with its own effect section, giving you reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, compressor, EQ, and more.
To make things more interesting, there is a sample-based drum section, arpeggiator, step-sequencer, and even a clip launch feature similar to that of Ableton Live.
While one could argue that you’re not getting the same control-per-parameter functionality as the MD900, there’s no denying the quality of the synthesis engine and the versatility of the Vibes as an instrument.
