Vocalstrip 2
From the jump, the Vocalstrip 2 plug-in has multiple metering sections. The interface design allows you to keep an eye on your dynamics, the frequency spectrum, and the behaviour of the de-esser and de-ploser processing.
The signal path can be flipped so you can rearrange the processing chain to suit your application and each section can be bypassed so you can hear what each one is actually doing.
Besides the Compander section, which offers quite detailed control, the other sections are rather stripped down. However, because Vocalstrip is exclusively designed for processing vocals and speech, this isn’t a problem as it makes for a fluid workflow.
Vocalstrip 2
Vocal Flow
Vocal Flow offers the same degree of modular control and flexibility in its signal path, but there are some clear strengths that set it apart. For starters, the Leveler section provides a low-ratio program-dependent compressor.
Meanwhile, the controls of the Vocal Flow de-esser and EQ sections are far more extensive than the Vocalstrip 2. Also, the Character section is great for sculpting the ideal range for any voice, and there is an impressive effects section with chorus, delay, and reverb.
My personal preference would be to place the Vocal Flow before the Vocalstrip 2 in the processing chain. While it has the Leveler for shaving transients, the larger 32C console EQ and character sections allow you to really carve out the vocal sound.
