Martin LX2 Life is Good: This Guitar WILL Make You Smile
Positive vibes, pocket guitar
About three years after their first collaboration, Martin Guitars and the lifestyle brand “Life is Good” have teamed up to create an acoustic guitar with a positive message: the LX2 Life is Good. This compact guitar is again based on a Little Martin and features a laser-etched sun around the soundhole and a message.
Life is Good: Clothing and Accessories With a Positive Message
We’ve already looked at this in detail with the LX1: Life is Good is a U.S.-based lifestyle products and apparel brand with a positive message not only in its name but also on its products.
Founded in 1994 by brothers Bert and John Jacobs, the company stands for a positive outlook on life, one that playfully reminds us not to take life too seriously.
This already resulted in two brightly colored models for the LX1, where Martin teamed up with Life is Good: the LX1 Life is Good* and a ukulele. In comparison, the new LX2 Life is Good takes a slightly more understated visual approach.
LX2 Life is Good: A Travel Guitar with a Message
“Positive energy is powerful energy” is emblazoned on the body of the LX2 Life is Good. In many musical situations, like on the beach, in a hippie commune, in a sing-along circle, or maybe at a festival, this message will make many listeners and musicians smile.

The LX2 Life is Good also features artwork designed by Life is Good, in the shape of a sun, laser-engraved on the guitar’s top. It’s sunny wherever you take it! And then, when you add to that how good this travel guitar-sized instrument sounds with its solid spruce top and HPL rosewood back and sides, your good mood knows no boundaries!
Little Martin, Big Sound
A review of its predecessor on Thomann enthusiastically highlights just how well this compact, Little Martin-based guitar fits in your hands. So that’s likely to be the case with the LX2 Life is Good as well, since it’s based on the same model.

For the neck (Modified Low Oval profile), Martin opts for birch, plus a Richlite fretboard and bridge (complete with a white TUSQ bridge inlay). The fretboard also sports diamond & square long inlays between the 20 frets. This makes it even easier to find your way around, despite the short 23-inch scale length.

The headstock is adorned with the Martin logo as well as the Life is Good dragon emblem. The dragon is a tribute to the Jacobs brothers’ mother, Joan Jacobs. In her bedtime stories, she often spoke of a dragon that breathed love instead of fire.
