Mackie Thump GO Expands with ThumpSub GO: Portable Bass Power for Any Gig
The Portable Rig Gets an Upgrade
[25 September 2025] The new Mackie Thump GO subwoofer called ThumpSub GO expands the range of portable sound solutions by offering a battery-powered option for the low end. Portable subwoofers of this design have been rare, so this model stands out in its niche. With its compact design and easy-to-transport enclosure, it’s ideal for users who need to work independently from a fixed power source. Thanks to hot-swappable batteries, operating time can be extended on the fly, which is useful for longer sessions.
All About Mackie Thump GO & ThumpSub GO
Mackie Thump GO Setup Gets Real Bass Boost with ThumpSub GO
The ThumpSub GO’s construction shows a focus on practical details. The flat cabinet design and recessed handles make transportation easier, and the unit can be used lying flat or standing upright. This flexibility is helpful when setting up in different environments and allows the subwoofer to be discreetly integrated into stage or DJ setups without taking up much space.
Technically, the ThumpSub GO has two eight-inch woofers designed to deliver accurate low-frequency reproduction. Full-range and high-pass modes allow adjustment to different satellite speakers, and a phase switch helps avoid cancellations in the frequency response. Clear LED indicators show the subwoofer’s battery status, charging status, and overload conditions, ensuring its operating state is easy to monitor.
Mackie’s Mobile PA System Goes Full Spectrum
Additionally, the unit includes – of course – Bluetooth streaming, which lets users wirelessly feed audio signals to the subwoofer and distribute them to connected speakers. This feature enables users to add wireless playback capabilities to existing setups. When combined with other Mackie portable products, such as the Thump GO speaker or the ProFX10 GO mixer, it can form a fully mobile sound system that doesn’t require wall power.
By adding the ThumpSub GO to the Thump GO lineup, Mackie provides a bass extension for its battery-powered systems especially suited for small- to mid-sized applications. With its portable design, practical features, and flexible power options, this subwoofer is ideal for users who need a simple, mobile solution for the low end.
Price and Specifications of Mackie ThumpSub GO
The ThumpSub GO features dual custom 8-inch drivers, a 400-watt Class-D amplifier, and flexible battery options that provide up to twelve hours of performance. Its hot-swappable GB-200 battery system ensures uninterrupted use, and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and multiple input and output options allow for versatile integration with different setups.
With a frequency range extending down to 32 Hz and a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 123 dB, the subwoofer combines a compact design with a remarkable low-end presence. Practical features such as phase inversion, high-pass and full-range modes, and LED status indicators simplify operation, and the sturdy handle and threaded pole mount enhance mobility and setup flexibility.

Mackie Goes Mobile with Thump GO Portable Loudspeaker
[17 August 2021 by Bob Malkowski] If you’re looking for a compact, portable PA speaker, then you’ll be excited about the Mackie Thump GO. Rechargeable power, lightweight and cleverly designed it should be a hit with buskers and street performers. But will the price alienate its target market? We take a closer look at Mackie’s latest PA product.

Mackie Thump GO
If you’ve ever used or purchased a powered PA speaker, then the chances are you’ve used one with a Mackie badge on it. Mackie revolutionised the PA speaker market with the original, powered, SRM series loudspeakers around two decades ago. Clearly then, Mackie’s got form when it comes to making powered PA speakers.
I was excited to learn that Mackie has just launched a brand new, portable, battery-powered loudspeaker called the Thump GO. If you’re a street performer or a busker then you might be excited too.
Mackie describes the Thump GO as “a professional quality loudspeaker with the portability of a boom box”. Let’s dig into the specs and see if that claim holds water, shall we?
Portable Powerhouse
The first claim: portability. At around 8kg it’s light enough to carry single-handed without a 2nd thought. Additionally, you’ll find an 8″ woofer coupled to a proper 1″ compression driver (no home-audio style tweeter here). It should, therefore, pack a decent punch for its size.
In typical Mackie fashion, there’s a basic, simple to use, yet versatile two-channel mixer built-in. Channels 1 and 2 offer a mic/line input on an XLR/Combi input. Additionally, you’ll find Bluetooth and stereo line-in functions on Channel 2.
I like the multiple EQ/voicing modes and clever functions like music ducking and feedback elimination built-in. You can also control the Thump GO’s mixer controls over Bluetooth using the Thump Connect 2 App.

If you’re a mobile or outdoor performer you’ll undoubtedly appreciate the removable, rechargeable battery pack. Each battery pack gives you up to 12 hours of running time on a single charge. You can buy multiple battery packs if you need a longer running time. Obviously, you can also run Thump GO from AC mains voltage as well.
Price and Availability of Mackie Thump GO
There’s a lot to like about the Thump GO. It seems a really well-designed loudspeaker that answers a lot of problems. Now for the price: Thump GO costs $399 or €372 here at Thomann*. I can’t help but wonder though if the pricing might put it slightly beyond the reach of many mobile street performers? Admittedly it’s a very well-featured piece of kit and I suspect it would pay back that investment if in regular use.
