[02 May 2025] H90 Harmonizer is the name of the new effects pedal from hardware and software developer Eventide. The name is, of course, a reference to one of the company’s most famous effects units, the H8000 and H9000. And now it comes in the form of a stompbox. The smaller version, the H9, is also popular and can be upgraded with new effects via a paid software update (or the plug-in versions). The latest update gives the pedal a major upgrade focused on vocal and harmonization processing. The new features come directly from the legendary H910 Harmonizer, a 1975 studio classic known for its characteristic pitch-shifting sound.

H90 Harmonizer Update Brings H910 Sound to Pedal

Eventide’s H90 effects pedal has been updated with the features of the legendary H910. The original H910 was used by Frank Zappa, Laurie Anderson, Yello, and others to distort or enhance vocal and guitar tracks. At the time, slight detuning created new soundscapes that are now considered style-defining. Until now, this special family of algorithms was only available in the high-end Eventide H9000. Now, for the first time, this technology is available in the compact format of the H90.

More Information

The focus is on two new algorithms called VocalTune and VocalShift. Both extend the H90’s vocal editing capabilities, but offer different sonic approaches. VocalTune is particularly useful for precise pitch correction, giving the input signal a subtly corrected or deliberately artificial timbre, depending on your needs. Formants, gate times and even compressor-based dynamics control can be directly influenced. Scale quantization provides additional tonal stability without losing the natural feel of the performance.

H90 Harmonizer with Automatic Scale Detection for Perfect Harmonies

VocalShift takes creativity and experimentation to a whole new level. This algorithm transforms a single voice into a multi-voice ensemble with up to three additional voices. All harmonies can be individually adjusted in pitch and formant, which, combined with automatic scale detection, produces harmonically coherent and musically relevant results. Experimental sound designers and producers will be particularly interested in the ability to solo individual voices or create dramatic progressions with pitch glides and pitch holds that are far removed from conventional vocal processing.

In addition to expanding the functionality of the algorithms, Eventide has also updated the H90 Control software, which is essential for managing the new features. Available for MacOS, Windows and, for the first time, the iPad, the software not only allows for easy import of the new algorithms, but also provides detailed control of all parameters via a clear user interface. The new features make the H90 even more attractive to hybrid studio setups and creative live performers looking for new ways to shape sound.

H90 Harmonizer Multi Effect from Eventide is Here!

[09. November 2022 / Bob Malkowski] H90 Harmonizer is the brand new multi effect pedal from hardware and software developer Eventide. The pedal takes inspiration from the H8000 and H9000 in the form of a stomp box pedal! Those aren’t the only surprises Eventide has in store!

H90 Harmonizer – Over 60 Eventide Effects in One Pedal!

The news is out and the new Eventide H90 Harmonizer pedal is here! You probably saw a lot of leaks appearing online about this pedal, but as of 7:00PM today, November 9th, we finally have the confirmed details. As we suspected, the H90 is a successor to the hugely successful H9 pedal, but with a great many more features.

Here are the headline features of the H90 Harmonizer:

  • Two effects at the same time
  • 62 effect algorithms in total
  • 52 effects ported from the H9 Max with extended features
  • Ten H9 effects (Polyphony, Prism Shift, Bouquet Delay, Head Space, Weedwacker, Even-vibe, Wormhole, Instant Flanger, Instant Phaser, SP2016 Reverb)
  • Low-latency polyphonic pitch shifter with SIFT technology (Spectral Instantaneous Frequency Tracking)

Additionally, you can now run effects in series or in parallel. You’ll also be pleased to hear that the H90 debuts a large OLED display !

What about I/O and connectivity? Well, there are four instrument and line-level inputs. That makes the H90 superb for use with guitars, synthesisers and even as an outboard device if you so wish. Additionally, you’ll find four outputs, allowing you to use both processors independently. The H90 can be updated, remotely controlled and programmed using new software – via USB C.

Is it What you Hoped for?

There’s no doubt that the Eventide H9 was universally viewed as one of the best multi-effect units, ever made. With these additional features, it looks certain the H90 will continue that legacy.

What about the pricing though? Will this still be accessible or will it carry a truly premium price to go with the premium features? Well, we have some news on that, too…

Pricing and Availability

Pricing of the H90 is confirmed at €939; undoubtedly, that’s going to push it out of bounds for some potential users. However, it’s a powerful package with industry-leading effects and that never comes cheap.

Looks like you completely messed up the algorithm thing: there 62 in total where 52 ported from the H6 MAX and 10 all-new. Not 114 effects. Check the article from http://www.synthanatomy.com.

      Read it again Dan. Doesn’t mention 114 effects anywhere 10 plus 52 = 62… and it’s a H9 not a H6.

Great piece of engineering. My biggest reason against these things are not the price… surely at that price running more than 2 effects at same time would be possible? I have a Digitech lying around somewhere that does more at the same time. Maybe not in the same definition but still…

Wow, amazing unit…wondering whether I should go for H90 or Line6 HX Effects for delay, modulation and reverbs…
