Kramer Volante: Guitars for the Modern Shredder
New Kramer Volante Series launched
Kramer has just launched the new Volante Series. Designed specifically for the demands of contemporary shredders and virtuosos, the Volante lineup features four new models for 2025.
Kramer Volante
The Kramer Volante Series consists of four distinct new models: Volante HHFR, Volante HSGT, Volante Quilt HHFR, and Volante Quilt HSFR. Drawing its name from the Italian word for “flying” or “light,” the Volante embodies speed and fluidity, making these guitars aimed at players who need fast-playing guitars, perfect for shredding on.
Built For Speed
The four new models all share the basic DNA. Each model boasts a lightweight alder body with ergonomic forearm and body comfort carves for extended playability.
The three-piece, satin-finished maple neck, secured with a five-bolt system and features Kramer’s innovative KeyLock for superior stability, ensuring maximum vibrational tone transfer, sustain, and intonation. Then, a sculpted heel design provides what Kramer describes as effortless access to the upper frets.
The 25.5” scale length thermally aged neck features a fast-playing Kramer Elliptical C profile, topped with a maple or ebony fretboard (depending on the model) with 24 jumbo frets and a compound 10-14” radius.
AAAA Quilt Maple
The Volante Quilt models elevate aesthetics with AAAA quilt maple veneer tops in eye-catching finishes like Ultramarine Burst, Ultraviolet Burst, Magenta Burst, and Aqua Burst. The standard models are available in Intruder Black, Defender Red, Angel White, and Triburst.
Floyd Rose
For ultimate stability and dive-bomb shenanigans, the Volante HHFR, Volante Quilt HHFR, and Volante Quilt HSFR are equipped with a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo and R3 locking nut. The Volante HSGT features a two-point tremolo and Kramer Locking Die Cast tuners.
Kramer USA Neptune
The HHFR and Quilt HHFR models sport a pair of powerful Kramer USA Neptune humbuckers with 5-way switching. The HSGT and Quilt HSFR models feature a Kramer USA Neptune humbucker in the bridge and a noiseless Kramer USA Triton single-coil in the neck, with a push/pull tone control for series/parallel switching on the bridge pickup.
Verdict
This new range will appeal to anyone who wants a modern take on the Kramer formula, and there are plenty of finish options to choose from. Each model comes with a premium gig bag included in the price. Finally, the HHFR left-handed option is being made available via special order.
The HHFR and HSGT are priced at £949/€1099, with the Quilt HHFR and Quilt HHSR priced at £1099/€1299 each. They are available now at Thomann.
