Today, Fender officially announced the new J Mascis Telecaster that we leaked last week, along with a reissued Kurt Cobain Jag-Stang, a Cory Wong Stratocaster, and a limited run 30th Anniversary Screamadelica Stratocaster.
J Mascis Telecaster
The new Fender J Mascis Telecaster signature model is based on the Dinosaur Jr. frontman’s refinished ’58 Telecaster. It features a Road Worn maple neck, top-loader bridge, mirrored chrome pickguard, a pair of custom J Mascis Telecaster pickups, and comes in an eye-catching Bottle Rocket Blue Flake finish.
The Fender J Mascis Telecaster will be available from August.
RRP – EUR 1399
Kurt Cobain Jag-Stang
There’s also a reissue of the Kurt Cobain ‘designed’ Jag-Stang offset model, to celebrate 30 years of the Nirvana Nevermind album. This model has an alder body and a 24” short-scale rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25” radius. Both the original Fiesta Red and Sonic Blue finishes are available.
The Fender Kurt Cobain Jag-Stang will be coming in October. I’m certain this will please a lot of fans, and is sure to annoy the sellers inflating prices of originals on auction sites!
RRP – USD 1249
Cory Wong Stratocaster
The Fender Cory Wong Stratocaster comes with a slightly scaled-down alder body, a modern D-shape maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, rolled edges, and a compound 10-14” radius. The guitar comes in a sweet-looking Sapphire Blue Transparent finish. It includes a set of Seymour Duncan Cory Wong Clean Machine pickups, controlled by a push/pull pot on Tone 2 that bypasses the five-way switch and defaults to the fourth position.
You also get a rubber strap lock washer set and a Cory Wong hair tie, for muting the tremolo springs. This is how Cory achieves his tight funk tone.
RRP – USD 1999
Screamadelica 30th Anniversary Stratocaster
The Screamadelica 30th Anniversary Stratocaster commemorates the seminal album for post-rave comedowns and features the Primal Scream Screamadelica album graphic emblazoned across its front. The guitar will be a highly limited run, and probably only really for collectors, as the graphic is pretty full-on.
You get a modern “C”-shaped maple neck with a 9.5” radius Pau Ferro fingerboard, medium jumbo frets, and a set of three vintage-voiced single-coil pickups. This one comes out in November and will look great on your wall.
RRP – USD 1049
