The IK tease machine has started up again and this time they claim to be tackling the “oldest instruments in human history”. Now that’s unlikely to be a caveman analogue synthesizer or ancient guitar it’s got be all about banging rocks together.

The video starts with piano (no, it’s not that) and then a heartbeat. Maybe early humans played music with their internal organs? Ha! That’s quite brilliant! Sorry. Anyway, then there’s some percussion coming in behind that before we travel through the rings of what could be drum heads as they tell us this is their “next musical breakthrough” and the fact that it “hits soon”. And then we have a solar eclipse where the moon, once worshipped by ancient civilisations, is now the silhouette of a snare drum.

It’s got to be drums right? Maybe it’s an expansion for their recently released UNO Drum? No, it seems much more significant than that. So I’m going to go with it being a new huge virtual drum instrument with hard drive destroying amounts of library.

We’ll find out in a few days – let us know what you think in the comments.

  1. Hello!
The voice is the oldest instrument. Maybe it’s IK’s take on vocal pitch to midi? iSing MIDI-microphone? 😉

  2. It’s going to be Modo Drums.
