Gretsch has released the Falcon Center Block LTD semi-hollow model as a limited-edition run. Available in Vintage White and Midnight Sapphire finishes, both with a String Thru-Bigsby vibrato.
Falcon Center Block LTD
The Gretsch Falcon Center Block LTD is a stunning-looking semi-hollow guitar and features many high-end features, including a Bigsby B7GP String-Thru vibrato and a set of TV Jones Classic and Classic Plus pickups, all finished in matching gold hardware throughout.
Limited-Run
It’s a limited-run model and is available in either Vintage White or Midnight Sapphire finishes; both look fantastic and have that vintage aesthetic nicely dialled in.
Channel Core
Gretsch is keen to point out the Channel Core centre block used on this model. This offers what they describe as much improved sustain and far greater feedback resistance. Which is what you want with a semi-hollow guitar, especially when you are playing at stage volumes.
They are constructed using a laminated maple with an arched top and back, paired with a U-shaped maple neck and an ebony 12″ fretboard fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets. As it’s Gretsch, you get gold sparkle binding and neo-classic thumb fret inlays, etc They do love their bling!
As these are modern guitars, they also have Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots, so a useful modern update to a vintage-style guitar.
The design also features deep cutaways for better upper fret access, so if you like playing up at the dusty end, then you will enjoy playing these.
Hardware includes a set of Grover Imperial locking tuners, and these should help keep the Bigsby vibrato in tune.
Pricing
As these are a limited run, they aren’t cheap and are priced at $3,789.99 each. If you want the classic Gretsch looks and tones, then they will be right up your street. I really like the Midnight Sapphire finish, though I would happily own either colour.
A great-looking semi-hollow guitar, and so I’m guessing that they will sell well, even if they are nearly $4k apiece.
