The new Neural DSP Soldano SLO-100 Suite plugin is an emulation of the legendary Mike Soldano design. It comes bundled with six effects pedal emulations and a comprehensive cab sim module, making it the perfect solution for that boutique high-gain amp tone.
Neural DSP Soldano SLO-100 Suite plugin
Based on the iconic SLO-100 design from the late-’80s, the Soldano SLO-100 Suite recreates the two-channel setup of the original boutique amp by Mike Soldano. This recreation also includes six effects, including a compressor, OD1 boost, OD2 overdrive, vintage chorus, delay and reverb, plus a nine-band graphic EQ which makes it even easier to dial in your amp tones and hone them down.
If you’re looking for that Soldano tone, then this package could be a great way of getting it inside your DAW of choice. It has a handy a cab sim module, which features hundreds of IRs made by Adam “Nolly” Getgood, along with six virtual microphones and the ability to load your own custom IR files. All these features make it quite an extensive package for anyone looking for these amp tones. Especially if they don’t have the space or money for an original Soldano SLO-100 setup.
You can run the software as a plugin within your DAW or as a standalone software package. Plugin formats include 64-bit VST, AU, and AAX on Mac and Windows. There is also a free 14 day trial version, so you can check out the tones yourself in your own setup.
I personally think Neural DSP knows exactly how to write and code these amp software suites, so I’m expecting great things from this new Soldano SLO-100 emulation. Certainly one to check out in the coming months. It could be perfect for smaller studios and home setups, that want those tones but without the hassle of mic’ing up large, loud amp stacks.
