More Information

With the vocal setting, you can use Soften for de-essing and reducing high-frequency harshness. Meanwhile, the processed signal will maintain the clarity and presence of your vocal and speech recordings. This is ideal for songwriters or content creators who want to give their sound a more professional edge.

In addition, the setting for guitars will enhance the overall performance tonally and the way it sits in the mix. According to Focusrite, “brittle highs or nasal mids” will be pulled back for a more natural sound. If you’re doing guitar recording at home, you need all the help you can get, so Soften is certainly a welcome addition to your toolbox.

Finally, the third processing mode is designed for your mix bus, but you can also use it on channel groups like your drums. This will ease out the hollow feel of any areas of the mix and decrease jarring frequency bands that may tire your ears out. Overall, Soften is a handy plugin to add to your collection, and it’s so easy to use.
