Fender Japan Blue Flower Collection: 67 Summer of Love
Limited Run Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Acoustasonic Telecaster
The Blue Flower Collection from Fender Japan revisits the Summer of Love with three models: Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Acoustasonic Telecaster.
Blue Flower Collection
Fender Japan always seems to have the best releases, and this latest Blue Flower Collection is going to be popular with fans of Fender’s Sixties-style models. The traditional Stratocaster and Telecaster models have been seen many times before over the years, and they have added the modern Acoustasonic Telecaster model to this retro-styled lineup. We last saw this Acoustasonic model in this finish back in 2022.
The series also includes a pint glass (¥2640), guitar picks in a tin (¥2640), and a drawstring bag (¥4400), all featuring the same Blue Flower design.
Original Blue Flower 1967 Telecaster models are very rare and collectible, and are from the same time as the Paisley models collected by Brad Paisley, who just announced a Blue Paisley Custom Shop run in May. These Japanese guitars are going to be far more affordable than those, but it is not yet clear if any will make it out of Japan, or if they are going to be exclusive to the Japanese market as usual.
Construction
Both electric guitars boast alder bodies. The Stratocaster features a 1969-era U-profile maple neck, while the Telecaster has a ’60s C-shape maple neck. Both necks are equipped with maple fretboards with a vintage-style 7.25″ radius and 21 vintage-style frets.
Pickups
The late 60s-style Strat comes with three period-sensitive, vintage-voiced single-coil pickups. It has the typical Strat control, one volume, two tones, and a five-way switch. Hardware includes a vintage-style six-saddle synchronized tremolo and Fender-made Kluson-style tuners.
The Telecaster comes fitted with vintage-voiced Tele pickups, a single volume and tone dial, and a three-way switch. This model has a three-saddle string-through-body Telecaster bridge with chrome barrel saddles and the same vintage F-stamped tuners as the Strat.
The Blue Flower Strat and Blue Flower Tele are both priced at ¥159,500 each.
Acoustasonic Telecaster
The Acoustasonic Telecaster didn’t exist in the late 1960s, so this one is very much ‘in the style of’ and has the usual specifications for these models. This includes a mahogany back and sides in a T-shape design with Transverse bracing and a distinctive two-ring black and white rosette.
Acoustic Engine
Designed for comfort, the instrument’s body is contoured for easy playability. This ergonomic approach extends to the satin urethane mahogany neck, which boasts a modern, deep-C profile and a 12″ radius. It’s finished with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard and a Graph Tech TUSQ nut.
This guitar uses Fender’s new Acoustic Engine, a noiseless pickup system created with Fishman, offering a versatile range of sounds right under the saddle. You also get Fender’s patented Stringed Instruments Resonance System (SIRS), ensuring powerful, natural sound and vibrant overtones for any type of music you play.
Priced at ¥341,000, this Acoustasonic is the most expensive model of the three.
