Heat Treated pickups

Ernie Ball Music Man’s HT Series offer a new technology for pickups. By heat treating the pickups, Ernie Ball states they offer a more responsive playing experience and give higher outputs compared to standard passive pickups.

Models now offered with the HT pickups include the Cutlass HT, StringRay HT and Sabre HT.

Sabre HT

The EBMM Sabre HT models are fitted with a custom-wound neck humbucker with a large ceramic magnet and these are paired with the Sabre’s HT bridge pickup. Elsewhere, the guitar has an Okoume contoured body shape with a thick maple cap. Hardware includes a set of Schaller locking tuners and these models feature a figured roasted maple neck fitted with 22 stainless steel frets on either a maple or a rosewood fretboard.

They are available in Yucatan Blue, Raspberry Burst, Showtime and Snowy Night finishes.

MSRP – USD 3699

Cutlass HT

The new Cutlass HT models come in a SSS pickup configuration. This time you get heat-treated pickups that have patent-pending pole pieces and a large neodymium magnet. With a bridge pickup that has been wound with plain enamel magnet wire which gives it a powerful stronger tone.  The neck and middle pickups have instead been underwound with heavy formvar magnet wire. This is more traditional and should balance well with the stronger bridge pickup.

These models feature a contoured alder body, paired with a roasted figured maple neck, and again you get 22 stainless steel frets. Hardware includes Schaller locking tuners and a Music Man vintage tremolo.

Finishes on offer include Showtime, Brûlée, Midnight Rider and Raspberry Burst.

MSRP – USD 2899

StingRay HT

Finally, there is the StingRay HT model. This version comes with a bridge pickup using patent-pending heat-treated pole pieces with a large ceramic magnet plus an overwound coil. This gives the bridge pickup better higher frequency harmonics and touch sensitivity. It is then paired with a custom-wound neck humbucker with a large ceramic magnet.

This model has a similar specification to the previous models, which includes a contoured body, a roasted figured maple neck, 22 stainless steel frets and a set of Schaller locking tuners. Just this time you get a Tune-o-Matic bridge and a stop tail.

Finishes include Showtime, Brûlée, Midnight Rider and Raspberry Burst.

MSRP – USD 2899
