Epiphone Acoustics: Acoustic Guitar Reissues, Inspired by Gibson Custom!
There's even a new model!
Following the big launch of new Les Pauls and Firebirds in April as part of the “Inspired by Gibson Custom” series, seven Epiphone acoustics are now joining the lineup! To achieve that classic look, the tops and necks of these models have been thermally aged so that they sound and look (almost) exactly like their legendary predecessors. There’s even a brand new model in the range.
Epiphone Acoustics: Reissues of Legendary Acoustic Guitars!
Let’s start with the reissues among the Epiphone acoustics, which are reproductions of old, legendary Gibson acoustic models. All new models have a solid Sitka spruce top that has been thermally aged. This brings them closer to the vintage look and sound of the old Gibson guitars.

The models 1963 Dove, 1960 Hummingbird, 1957 SJ-200, and 1942 J-45 models all come with a rosewood bridge and rosewood fingerboard. In comparison, the SJ models Pre-War SJ-200 and 1957 SJ-200 feature a traditional maple neck. All other reissues feature a thermally treated, one-piece mahogany neck.
In addition, each of these Epiphone acoustics comes with an under-saddle pickup system with volume and tone controls mounted in the sound hole, namely the L.R. Baggs Elements Bronze VTC.
Prices range as follows:
- Epiphone 1963 Dove Reissue Natural for $1,279 / £1,155 / €1,299*
- Epiphone Pre-War SJ-200 Reissue for $1,535 / £1,390 / €1,599*
- Epiphone 1942 Banner J-45 Reissue for $1,279 / £1,155 / €1,299*

Hummingbird Deluxe EC: There is even a new model!
The Epiphone acoustics release also includes a model that has not yet been released: the Hummingbird Deluxe EC. Like the Pre-War SJ-200, this acoustic guitar comes with an ebony bridge and solid rosewood back and sides, as well as a cutaway body shape, with traditional X-bracing inside.

Like the rest of the Epiphone acoustics, this model comes with a bone saddle and genuine mother-of-pearl inlays, and a 24.75″ scale length. It also features an L.R. Baggs Elements Bronze VTC preamp.

Two colors are available: Autumn Burst and Natural. The Epiphone Hummingbird Deluxe EC Autumn Burst costs $1,279 / £1,155 / €1,299 at Thomann*, while the Natural version is also priced at $1,279 / £1,155 / €1,299*. All guitars in this Epiphone Acoustics release come with a case.
