Enjoy calls Memento a “Mindscapes Synaptics Flow Processor,” which sounds like quite a mouthful, so let’s break it down. The workflow is divided into three distinct sections, including Dry & Overlay, Bidirectional Stereo Delay, and an evolving spatial section called Mindscape Textures.
At the initial Dry & Overlay stage, you can control the level of the dry signal, while the Overlay control provides the means to loop or resample audio with adjustable length, which is running alongside the input signal. The stereo delay section offers two independent delay lines, which can also operate in reverse, and the feedback can be shaped with high-pass and low-pass filters.
The Mindscape Textures section has several operating modes, including multihead, which generates a polyphonic texture array with multiple playback heads, as well as the fragments section that samples pieces of the dry signal into the buffer, and you can control the size and amount, and manipulate the sound with gestures from the leather touch control strip.
Memento also has two linkable modulation engines for sound shaping, which can be configured as 16-step modulation pattern sequencers or flexible LFOs that can be shaped directly with the touch control. Overall, despite the impressive specs, the Memento seems like a device that needs to be experienced to truly understand its creative potential.
