The new Elgato Stream Deck+ is a slightly more involved version of the widely used Stream Deck controller.
Besides the usual video production features, you have a touchscreen to work with. What’s more, a number of features can be controlled via the four encoders. This makes it an even more versatile tool.
Working with the Elgato Stream Deck+
The reason these controllers are so popular is the fact that they are so easy to set up and configure, regardless of your workflow. Live streaming and video podcasting production requires quick access to functions, even more so when you’re starting off and don’t have a dedicated producer.
Cycling between cameras or triggering samples and effects is a no-brainer with the Stream Deck series, so let’s see what new additions are possible with the Stream Deck+.
Like the other models in this series, it comes with eight assignable buttons. These can provide quick access to features on the fly and you can configure them easily with the free Control Center app.
With a touchscreen and four rotary encoders, you now have a far more precise center console for your streaming operations. Rather than simply toggling features on or off, you can now fade video effects and audio levels smoothly.
In addition, the LCD touch bar allows you to quickly swipe between key assignments. This means you don’t need to use the Elgato software to switch mid-stream.
The display also shows the position of each of the four knobs. This avoids any clumsy mistakes during streaming or recording, as you have a better overview of the entire workflow.
Overall, it’s not only a more professional tool but the features are still just as accessible as the other Stream Deck models.
