Free Plugins of the Week
R.Jorj Dusty Tube: Free NAM Amp Simulator
How about a free amp simulator for guitar and bass? Built on the open-source Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) platform, Dusty Tube by developer R.Jorj pairs a gorgeous vintage-style interface with a practical set of features. Functioning as a free NAM loader, the plugin allows you to load and play the countless available amp, pedal, and speaker emulations from the NAM cosmos.

The main amp panel offers an input section with gain and an adjustable noise gate, an EQ section, a spring reverb, an output level control, and an IR mixer. Besides a stompbox effects section, Dusty Tube also offers an IR-based speaker simulation that lets you load different IRs for the left and right speakers, which can then be combined using the IR mixer.
Dusty Tube is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 format.
Dart Spark Plateau 2: Free Dual Tank Plate Reverb
Plateau 2 by Dart Spark is a versatile plate reverb plugin featuring two independent reverb tanks. The two tanks can interact with each other through sends, which allows you to create complex and unique reverb textures.
Both tanks have their own sets of controls. There’s an input filter for shaping the input signal, followed by the familiar Size, Diffusion, and Decay controls. A reverb filter lets you shape the sound of the reverb tail. Moreover, both tanks also offer a modulation section with adjustable rate, shape, and depth, as well as a Freeze button.

The Routing page lets you configure how the two tanks interact. Plateau 2 also offers an Extras page with soft clipping, pre-distortion, and other “dangerous settings”. A highly versatile free plate reverb!
Plateau 2 is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.
Mensla Stereo Tool: Versatile Stereo Effect Plugin
Following up on previous releases such as the awesome MS-2 FM synth and MS-3 waveshaping synth, Mensla is back with a versatile Stereo Tool. The plugin lets you create a wide variety of stereo effects.

Working in L/R or M/S modes, Stereo Tool offers a variety of filters (all pass, low pass, high pass, band pass, notch) that can be applied to both channels individually. Each channel also has an adjustable delay. There’s also a Width control, as well as a vectorscope display for visualization. Moreover, Stereo Tool offers six mid-side FX algorithms: Soft Distortion, Foldback, Rectify, Poly, Crush, and Shaper.
Stereo Tool is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST and AU formats.
