Charvel has officially pulled back the curtain on the Standard Series Style 2 SD2 HH HT, a high-performance “shred machine” that bridges the gap between entry-level pricing and professional-grade specs.

Charvel Standard Series Style 2

The new Charvel Standard Series Style 2 is an affordable ‘Shred Guitar’ and available in either Gloss Black or Satin Gray finishes.

With an official MSRP of $569.99, the new model aims to deliver the brand’s legendary San Dimas pedigree to a wider audience without sacrificing the structural integrity for which Charvel is known.

They offer some nice specifications at a reasonable price, which means those specifications are quite basic. Perfect for anyone who likes stripped back guitars, with minimal fuss.

Budget Shred

The heart of the new Style 2 is its resonant Nyatoh body, paired with a bolt-on Nyatoh neck. To satisfy the demands of touring musicians, Charvel has used graphite reinforcement for the neck to ensure it remains rock-solid under varying environmental conditions. This is certainly a plus, and will help keep them ready for shredding and help maintain a consistent action.

The guitar features a 12″-16″ compound radius amaranth fretboard. This design allows for comfortable chord work near the nut while flattening out for high-speed soloing and wide bends across the 22 jumbo frets. The Style 2 also includes a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel, allowing neck tweaks on the fly without removing hardware.

High-Output

These models come equipped with a pair of Dual Charvel high-output humbuckers, controlled by a simplified three-way toggle and a master volume. I’m guessing many players will probably upgrade the pickups at some point if they don’t get along with them. But keeping them in-house helps keep costs down.

A Charvel hardtail bridge with string-through-body ferrules, optimised for sustain and a “snappy” pick attack. Again, a solid design, and so it should be perfect for heavy riffing. A set of sealed die-cast locking tuners comes standard (a rarity at this price point with larger brands like Charvel), ensuring stability during heavy performances.

Who are they for?

In 2026, staying under the $600 threshold is now considered ‘affordable,’ which is funny, since it is still a large chunk of change for many musicians. If you must have the Charvel logo on your headstock, then these Style 2 SD2 HH HT are your entry point into the club.

Not so long ago, I purchased a new SoCal with a Floyd Rose and Seymour Duncan pickups for a similar price tag.

These look nice, but they are pretty basic. With brands like Cort and Harley Benton around, I guess Charvel has to offer something for similar price points, and this is what you get.

Price & Availability

The new Charvel Standard Series Style 2 models are available from Thomann, in Gloss Black and Satin Gray, priced at €489.
