The new Charvel Pro-Mod Plus So-Cal Style 1 HH EVTN E comes equipped with a rock-solid Evertune bridge and comes in a sleek Midnight Blue finish.
Pro-Mod Plus So-Cal Style 1 HH EVTN E
The latest model from Charvel is the Pro-Mod Plus So-Cal Style 1 HH EVTN E (yes, that is a mouthful), with Style 1 meaning it is an S-style guitar, and So-Cal indicating it has a pickguard.
It is all about being a rock-solid instrument, and so it comes outfitted with an Evertune bridge system, which keeps the tuning perfectly intact no matter how hard you play.
It comes in Midnight Blue and has black hardware throughout, for that stealth look.
Tour Ready
This new model has obviously been designed to stand up to the toughest touring schedules. Which makes it ideal for players who need a guitar they can rely on for playing live, and also that can handle studio sessions.
Its sculpted alder body is complemented by a bolt-on caramelized maple neck, reinforced with graphite rods to resist warping from temperature fluctuations and heavy use.
This ensures a stable and consistent playing experience, even under extreme conditions. For quick adjustments, the innovative heel-mount spoke wheel (I love these things) allows players to fine-tune the truss rod with ease.
Speed and Precision
Speed and comfort are at the forefront of this guitar’s design, and it has all the typical Charvel specifications that players love.
The thin D-shape neck, coupled with a 12″-16″ compound radius ebony fretboard, should provide an incredibly smooth playing surface. With 22 stainless steel frets, bends are effortless and sustain is enhanced, making everything from aggressive riffs to intricate solos feel natural and fluid.
This design caters to guitarists who like playing fast legato runs and technical playing. My So-Cal is an absolute dream to play, and so I can understand the appeal of this new model for a lot of players.
Seymour Duncan
It comes loaded with a formidable pickup combination. In the bridge position, a Seymour Duncan Nazgûl humbucker and a Sentient humbucker in the neck position. This combination of pickups makes this guitar perfect for heavy genres and articulate lead work.
These two humbuckers are controlled with a single volume and tone control, along with a 5-way blade switch.
Verdict
The look is all dark with that luscious Midnight Blue finish, and the sculpted lines of this So-Cal should mean that it plays fast and should feel great to use for long sessions. Of course, the Evertune bridge is the star of the show, and it is combined with a Graph Tech TUSQ nut and a set of Charvel’s locking tuners, so it will be a workhorse instrument.
The price point is high; however, the specifications are great for this type of high-performance shredder.
