Charvel Pro-Mod Plus DK24
So, what’s new for the Charvel Pro-Mod Plus DK24 models? Well, we get the slim basswood Dinky body along with a Shredder’s Cut neck, with a contoured lower back. This guarantees seamless access to higher frets. If you usually struggle to reach the last fret, this will be a thing of the past with this model.
The bolt-on neck is caramelised maple and has graphite reinforcement for extra stability. Moreover, the back is in a satin finish with natural lacquer. Helping aid with speed is the ebony fretboard with a 12″-16″ compound radius. Boasting comfortable rounded edges, and not forgetting 24 jumbo stainless steel frets for perfect bends.
Seymour Duncan Pickups
What pickups are used on this Charvel Pro-Mod Plus DK24? Charvel uses a tried-and-tested HH setup on some models, featuring two direct-mount Seymour Duncan pickups. A Nazgûl is used at the bridge and a Sentient at the neck.
This combo is ideal for heavy chugs, all the way to cleaner lead lines. Alternatively, you can also get the model with an HSS configuration consisting of a Seymour Duncan Full Shred TB-10 humbucker and two single coils: a Seymour Duncan SSL-6 in the middle position and a Seymour Duncan SSL-6 RWRP at the neck. Making these ideal for any gig scenario.
New Models to Choose From
You can get hold of the Charvel Pro-Mod Plus DK24 in several versions. For example, there are models with a quilted maple top, which gives the instrument a significantly more elegant appearance.
There are also differences in the hardware: Instead of the Charvel HT6 hardtail bridge with string-through-body design, some models feature a recessed Floyd Rose 1500 Series double-locking tremolo, including a matching Floyd Rose 1500 Series locking nut. This variant is specifically aimed at players who love 80s divebombs!
The HSS version uses a recessed Wilkinson WVS130-2P tremolo with locking saddles instead of the Floyd Rose system. This would be my choice, as you get the float of a Floyd without the logistics. Two new colours are now available for this model.
Price and Availability
The new Charvel Pro-Mod Plus DK24 series offers a suitable model for every taste. However, they are a little pricey, but the core 80s DNA is consistent across all models. Anyone looking for a new super-Strat with state-of-the-art features should take a closer look at these new guitars.
