Boss has just introduced the Katana Cabinet 212, a brand new companion speaker cabinet loaded with two custom 12″ speakers specifically designed for the Katana Head guitar amplifier range.
Katana Cabinet 212
This new cabinet has been made to complement the range of tones that you can coax from their Katana amp range. The amps were recently updated to V2, which added some useful new features. Optimized for the Katana Head’s 100 watts of power and wide tonal range, the Katana Cabinet 212 was made to accommodate all genres of music including blues, jazz and country through to harder rock styles as well.
Made with two custom Boss Katana 12-inch speakers, the Katana Cabinet 212 handles up to 150 watts of power, so enough to handle the 100-watt power output of the Katana Amp head. It can be used in either a horizontal or vertical configuration, so you should be able to get enough projection at gigs.
It is rated at 8 Ohms with an input connector on 1/4″ jack and has a top strap handle to ease lugging it out of the van, as it weighs in at 22 Kilos.
Open or closed?
You can also remove the back panel to change the porting. That way, you get the choice of either a more focused direct sound with plenty of tight bass response or a more room-filling open sound with the back removed.
It maybe isn’t the cheapest guitar amp cab on the market, yet it is far from expensive for a good quality 2×12 speaker cabinet. If you own a Katana Head, you may want to pick one up as it seems well specified on paper. At the time of writing, the only demo I could find was a pre-release prototype version of the Katana 212, so I have included it below for you to check out.
