Music Tribe has decided that what the community needs is a place to buy and sell gear that’s completely free. So are Reverb and eBay about to become a thing of the past for musicians?

Music Tribe Marketplace

It’s an unusual move for a manufacturer to get involved in the second-hand market like this. You imagine they’d be more focused on making new things and taking our money. So this could be a very interesting development. Certainly, the charges involved in selling your unwanted gear can be annoying, but we also accept that something has to pay for the system that allows the transaction to happen. You wouldn’t be able to place a free advert in a newspaper or “Exchange and Mart”.

But of course if we could do it for free then why wouldn’t we? There are lots of questions like how is the Marketplace going to work, how free is free, and what’s the catch?

All we know is that it all kicks off on Monday 3rd February and it’s all about Post, Offer, Buy and Sell according to this video:

In a Facebook post Behringer suggests it’s a “soft launch” as they are still making improvements but I’m sure that’s not going to stop us all wading in and telling them exactly what’s wrong with it.
