Arturia has switched on stealth mode for the MiniBrute 2, MiniBrute 2S and DrumBrute Impact with a limited edition black exterior.

Brute Noir

We first saw this concept with the Matrix Brute Noir back in June last year. It did look rather fabulous with the deep, dark paint job. Now they’ve extended the vibe to some of the smaller brutes, namely the MiniBrute 2, 2S and DrumBrute Impact and it makes you wonder why anything ever comes in any colour other than black.

Moog is another example of a conscious darkening in tone. After branching out in the colour department with the Grandmother and Matriarch synthesizers Moog followed it up with dark and tasty black versions. Although for me, I preferred the colours.

Arturia is slightly different though because the company is not known for choosing classic or bold colours. Many of the products are based around a rather non-descript muted blue and so moving to black could be seen as a very positive development. However, these are a limited edition run so you need to get them while they’re hot!

Sitting them side-by-side with the originals there’s not a whole lot of difference but maybe black wooden ends and red writing could be enough to tip you into a purchase. Yeah, I really like them.

The new Brute Noir Editions should be available for the same price as the originals although I’ve not seen any advertised in shops yet. I’ll update this article as soon as they appear.
