AES 2018: iZotope Nectar 3 automates vocal production with machine learning
How does AI-powered vocal production sound? Sure sounds interesting to me! At AES 2018, iZotope debuted Nectar 3, its latest generation vocal processing plug-in. Improvements and changes are aplenty, starting with an user interface facelift and moving through five new modules and an AI-powered assistant. Indeed, iZotope’s machine learning-powered auto adjustment technology has made it to its vocal processing suite, offering one-click preset creation, custom-tailored for your material.
Nectar’s dynamic EQ now has a new Follow EQ mode for automatic sculpting and shaping vocals in real-time. And with Auto Level mode, your vocal recordings’ are automatically evened out. Yes, iZotope really wants to make mix and master engineers’ lives as easy as they could be with the power of machine learning.
Another feature coming from the company’s latest flagship products, oZone 8 and Neutrino 2, is inter-plugin communication. Nectar 3 shakes hands with other iZotope plug-ins to help you solve various mix issues. If that’s not enough, Nect-a comes bundled with the Component RX 7 Breath Control plug-in, Celemony Melodyne 4 Essential, iZotope Relay (which sends audio data to iZotope’s Insight 2 metering plug-in), and tons of presets to get you going right away. With Nectar 3, iZotope unquestionably presents its most complete vocal production solution to date.
