Leak: Is Line 6 about to drop the HX Stomp XL?
Line 6 is about to add a new multi-fx pedalboard to its line-up! HX Stomp XL has been – we assume accidently – leaked by a US retailer. The new version appears to have more assignable buttons for you to stomp on, as well as as a few minor functional tweaks. Let’s take a first look!
Line 6 HX Stomp XL
Looks like Line 6 is about to drop a new HX Stomp XL with more footswitch buttons than the regular HX Stomp! The HX Stomp was released back in 2018, and although it has three extra footswitches the new XL version has exactly the same DSP processing power as the original. These switches are labelled A-D, up and down, Mode and Tap. There’s also a main output volume control on the rear of the unit, so a slight redesign of the chassis.

The leaked page has now been pulled from the US Site, but thankfully TGP forum users grabbed all the images and some of the specifications before it disappeared. Then YouTube channel ToneJunkie TV made a video all about the leaked new product.

Without any official word from Line 6, we’ll have to wait for the full details. But the shots above show the usual USB, MIDI and stereo ins/outs on the rear panel, plus an fx loop and that new rear mounted volume knob. What’s your reaction to Line 6’s new offering? It needs to have a variax input to get me all excited… But I have a Helix Floor, so I’m cool for now. I love my helix floor, but as long as I’m rambling on, the one(for me) drawback it has is when you’re gigging out in the sun and you’re wearing a pair of polarized sunglasses you can’t see squat on the screen.
It is ugly. And I need xlr out plus a volume/fx pedal – otherwise the price and usability suffer due extra investment. No Go for me.
The outdoors on the Stomp (and presumably the Stomp XL according to photo) are balanced, so you only need a TRS pigtail to attach to XLR; no need for a separate set of outputs.
A minor update…but let me know when there’s a version with a rechargeable battery in it and then I’d be in!
