Prestigious German audio software zynaptiq has released two new plugins alongside the new MASTER II and ZAP VI bundles. As zynaptiq has a strong reputation for innovation and doing things its own way, LOUD and WIDE should be interesting additions to your DAW workflow.

With zynaptiq’s new LOUD plugin, you get a smorgasbord of different processing engines, including the ones from INTENSITY, PUNCH, and BALANCE, along with multi-band limiting and saturation. Now, were this plugin from any other company, my left eyebrow would certainly be raised, but zynaptiq knows exactly what they’re doing when it comes to creating versatile processors like this and condensing them down with essential interfaces.
Like INTENSITY, LOUD can be used to enhance any signal with its Clean and Warm processing modes, from individual tracks and channel groups to your main mix bus, and its adaptive algorithms add clarity and power to vocals or instruments or power and glue to buses, depending on the type of material being processed. In addition, there is support for up to 16-channel processing for immersive mixing workflows.
WIDE, on the other hand, is an advanced stereo image processor that allows precise widening of the stereo image and mono-to-stereo upmixing. Using a combination of resynthesis and spectral processing, WIDE provides three stereo-to-stereo and one mono-to-stereo processing modes that can be used across a wide range of applications including sound design, mixing, and mastering, without introducing artifacts.
A good example of where WIDE could be used in a mixing workflow would be to move elements into the stereo field and out of the way of your central vocal or dialogue channel. You can also use it for more traditional applications like giving your backing vocals massive width in the mix during a song’s chorus. Overall, both LOUD and WIDE are versatile effects for post-production, mixing, and mastering engineers.
