Soundboks Rider: This Compact 8-Inch Speaker Packs a Punch

The Soundboks Rider is a travel-friendly and lightweight addition to the popular battery-powered speaker range with impressive power handling.
Like a garage rock band, Soundboks is a Danish manufacturer with humble beginnings and high hopes that has created some of the most desirable outdoor speakers and grown into a formidable global tech brand.

At just under 6.5 kg (14.4 lbs), the Rider is less than half the weight of the original Soundboks design. However, with its single 8-inch woofer and 1.2-inch tweeter, the Rider punches well above its weight, with a maximum SPL rating of 118 dB compared to the 126 dB of the Soundboks 4.
One of the reasons the Soundboks range is so successful is the quality and availability of their replaceable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. When fully charged, the Rider delivers up to 35 hours of playback time at a moderate volume, and includes features like short-circuit and overheating protection, as well as a 5-bar battery-life indicator.
The Rider is powered by a dual Texas Instruments 72W/20W RMS Class-D amplification system, allowing the drivers to deliver a frequency range of 40 Hz – 20 kHz. The sonic experience is further enhanced with the Adaptive Bass Enhancer DSP system, which provides Bass+, Indoor, and Power / Outdoor modes for different environments.
In addition, the Soundboks Companion App gives you access to a Custom EQ, so you can manually shape the spectrum to suit your particular application and personal taste. Overall, the Rider captures the Soundboks spirit in a smaller format that is far less likely to annoy your neighbors or get you banned from the nature reserve.
