Tama Anika Nilles Signature Snare

Nilles made a name for herself in the international drum community with her odd-meter, groove-first solo material and with her band Nevell. In 2022, she joined Jeff Beck’s touring band, and currently she’s the new drummer for the Rush reunion, making this a perfectly timed launch for the Tama Anika Nilles Signature Snare.

The Anika Nilles Signature Snare took over three years to develop, and Anika’s requirements were clear: a deep low end, snare wires that remain clear even during complex passages, and a look that resembles the vintage snares she collects.

More Information

The shell of the Anika Nilles Signature Snare is 14″ x 6.5″, seamless aluminum, 1.2 mm thick. The new feature is the Mod-Tone internal muffler: a large, soft contact pad that can be switched in and out with one touch and has a dial for continuous pressure adjustment. It also features a Linear Drive strainer, 20-strand Starclassic Hi-Carbon wires, and Evans heads.

Get it from Thomann* or Sweetwater*.

Peter Erskine Signature Snare

Erskine has been a Tama artist for decades, performing with Weather Report and then enjoying a long career as a bandleader and in-demand session player, and his 14″ x 4.5″ signature snare has been in the catalog for years. The new PE1045M model shrinks this concept to 10″ x 4.5″, offering either a left-side snare or the perfect main drum for compact or hybrid kits.

The shell uses the same design as the 14″ model: four plies of maple and two of spruce, with a Sound Focus reinforcement ring on the batter side. Star Cast hoops with an integrated mount mean that it can be clamped anywhere on the kit without the need for a separate basket.

It’s available from Thomann* or Sweetwater*.

Spartan Hardware: The Missing Pieces

When Tama launched the lightweight aluminum Spartan stands earlier this year, a snare stand and hi-hat were listed as coming later. Now, they’re here. The HS70S snare stand* uses hollow aluminum basket arms, a stepless Quick-Set tilter and anti-walk rubber feet. Perfect for the Anika Nilles signature snare!

In addition, the HH75DS hi-hat* is a two-legged, all-aluminum design with adjustable spring tension and footboard angle. Tama now also offers the stands as bundles: HS4S* and HS4S+B* with a carry bag (€475).
