Excite Audio developed VISION 4X together with Noisia, the Dutch drum and bass trio known for their technical precision in mixing. The result is an analysis plugin that runs four complete visualization tools simultaneously inside a single, fully customizable interface. Through July 31st, VISION 4X is 44% off.
The centerpiece is the spectrogram with its enhanced low-end resolution, which makes frequency information visible that simply disappears in other analyzers. Three display modes cover different use cases: Transient for the start and end points of notes, Harmonic for a detailed look at overtone content, and All-round for a general overview.
Ten color maps, each selected for maximum information density, plus Map Bias for brightness weighting by frequency range, make the display freely configurable. Plugin Alliance Black Box Analog Design HG-2MS: Now 76% Off
Plugin Alliance released the Black Box Analog Design HG-2MS as the M/S expansion of the already well-regarded HG-2 tube saturation plugin. Brainworx extended the emulation of four different tube stages from the original Black Box hardware preamp with mid/side processing, a new filter section, and their own Tolerance Modeling Technology. The HG-2MS combines two separate tube stages: a pentode and a triode section with emulated 6U8A tubes running in series, each delivering a distinct saturation character — the pentode more forward and present, the triode softer and more subtle. A parallel 12AX7 saturation section adds a third tube character and can be restricted to specific frequency ranges via one of four filter modes: highpass, lowpass, bandpass, or bandstop. The Air knob adds brilliance above 10 kHz. Brainworx’s TMT technology models the component tolerances of analog hardware, which when used across multiple tracks simultaneously produces a more natural stereo image than identical plugin instances without that variance would.
In a studio context, the Black Box HG-2MS does its best work on the master bus and drum buses, where the combination of pentode, triode, and parallel saturation makes a mix denser, warmer, and more full-bodied without narrowing it sonically. Saturating the sides harder than the center in M/S mode produces a wider stereo image without artificial widening. Saturating the center with more even-order harmonics than the sides adds warmth at the core without losing width.
