Melody Flip expands Roland’s AI-driven arsenal from the Future Design Lab, alongside Tone Explorer, Project LYDIA, and the AI for Music Initiative, which is a partnership with UMG.

Designed as an intuitive “smart assistant”, Melody Flip is designed to use AI-assisted technology as a catalyst for music creation. Instead of replacing the creator completely, it’s a tool that fits into your workflow and gives you suggestions based on the audio fed into its analysis engine.
Because so many artists, composers, and producers in different genres use reference tracks, Melody Flip makes sense as a tool that provides a range of new ideas based on the imported audio. The analysis engine reads the musical structure, tempo, key, chord progression, style, and other essential components, and then uses the collated data to find you an appropriate tool set from the library.
This curated library has roughly 300 different palletes, which are rooted in specific music styles with a particular tonal direction in each case. The suggested song can be played back within the plugin, and you can then pick and choose which MIDI parts you would like to use with your favourite software instruments in your DAW.
In practice, this can be helpful because even if you don’t actually use any of the generated suggestions, simply having access to a structured compositional template can show you the steps to transform a sketch or idea into a full arrangement.
