Songwriter
First released in the 1990s, the Gibson Songwriter acoustic model features a dreadnought body style and a unique square shoulder. Now, they are back as the Songwriter Recording Artist and available in
Rosewood Burst and Antique Natural finishes.
Old Meet New
The new Songwriter Recording Artist, Gibson describes as a professional-grade acoustic model handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, specifically designed for elite studio recording and live performance. By combining Gibson’s historic 1930s scalloped Advanced X-bracing with a longer 25.5-inch scale length, this guitar delivers a unique, dynamic sound and has its own voice.
Cutaway
They are available with (the Songwriter Recording Artist EC) or without a Cutaway, so you can opt for either body style. Construction remains the same regardless of which version you choose. The ‘EC’ model has slightly better upper-fret access.
Thermally Aged
Its construction features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides, a combination that mirrors the 1936 Advanced Jumbo to produce what they describe as a superior tonal range. This model has a mahogany neck with a comfortable round profile and an ebony fretboard adorned with mother-of-pearl diamond eye inlays.
Gibson uses a compound dovetail joint secured with traditional hot hide glue. They state this should ensure maximum vibration and stability. Essentially, this model offers classic acoustic guitar construction with modern updates, making it suitable for many acoustic players.
Premium hardware completes the build, including a bone nut, gold Grover open-back tuners, and an ebony bridge decorated with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays. Aesthetically, these models also have a fancy-looking wide abalone rosette, a custom tortoise pickguard, and the iconic Gibson logo and crown inlaid on the headstock.
L.R. Baggs
For the modern performer, this model comes equipped with a built-in L.R. Baggs HiFi system that offers exceptional string balance and feedback resistance. The dual bridge plate sensors and internal preamp are voiced to capture a natural acoustic tone, while the discreet soundhole-mounted controls allow for easy adjustments.
