The PowerValve 200 from Victory Amps is a hybrid power amp designed for players who work with amp modeling setups, but still want the authentic sound and feel of an actual guitar cab. It delivers a mighty 200 watts via a Class D power stage. Plus, the amp features a switchable Valve React Circuit (VRC), which runs the signal through an EF91 (CV4014) tube before it reaches the output stage.
The idea here is that by adding a tube into the signal path, you increase harmonic complexity and pick sensitivity that a solid-state model just couldn’t deliver. That way, you get the best of both worlds: tube amp feel, if you need it, or uncolored, powerful solid-state vibes. Quite the versatile system.
What is The Workflow of The PowerValve 200?
The amp’s front panel features controls for Input Gain, Output Level, a three-band EQ with Resonance, Body, and Presence, and a Headphone Level control. The EQ pots are detented, so the midpoint is effectively bypassed.
There is a single speaker output that can handle 4–16 ohms (200 W, 100 W, and 50 W, respectively), a balanced input (perfect for modelers), and a 3.5 mm headphone output. The PowerValve 200 also features an optional built-in cab sim with an XLR output that can be switched independently.
More Than an FRFR Speaker
